We are hiring a Military experienced media relations/public affairs officer. Candidate will be supporting high level Army officials, long and short-term strategic communications with internal and especially external entities in communicating Army strategy, operations, reporting and related information.
This position requires both strong written communication skills (EXORDS, FRAGOS, EXSUMS, SITREPS, PERSTATS, etc.) as well as writing and creating support materials for speeches, Keynote addresses, briefings, talking point outlines, policy position summations, themes, conference prep, meetings, etc. Candidate will be expected to maintain a Continuity Book that will be accessible to all to review.
The candidate will be working with Top Secret materials and be expected to understand and communicate using Government writing protocols such as AR 25-50, DA Memo 25-52 as well as basic cybersecurity doctrine such as DoDI 8500.1, FM 3-12, 3-13, data cloud management, public affairs regulations, etc.
Other regular duties will include managing calendar events such as GO/SES engagements, working with public affairs guidance and the Office of the Chief of Public Affairs (OCPA). A significant part of the duties will involve the responsibility of being the point person for the Continuity of Operation Program (COOP) working group (which meets 2x a month), creating the COOPs minutes and EXSUMs, handling organization planning, COOP testing, updating the Critical Information List (CIL), training, scheduling, annual meeting preparation, maintaining the Emergency Relocation Group (ERG) for the COOP, developing the COOPs policies and procedures, scheduling rooms/locations, sending agendas, and packages ahead of and pamphlets to be used at meetings, etc.
Required:
*Ability to Travel to the Pentagon, daily, with no hybrid schedule
*Active TS/SCI Clearance
*5 Years of experience in responsibility for handling high level executive communication preparation, typically in a media relations or public affairs role.
*Masters’ Degree
*Experience in speech writing/preparation, FRAGO/EXSUM or similar military-level Government writing typically; experience working in a Headquarters (HQ) environment.
*Familiar with writing/speech preparation of Military mission related topics.
*Skilled at planning monthly meetings, involving many different elements as per the job order above.
