We are seeking a contract Mechanical Engineer who will create packaging designs and solid models for component packaging. Candidate will work with test engineering develop the mechanical structures, create the 3D solid model and detail the models in 2D/3D software packages.
Day to day duties will include ensuring packaging engineering principles are fully integrated in the design of equipment supportability and the design of overall packaging, handling, storage, and transportability capability for the product life cycle. As an entry position, they will just be supporting the packaging department efforts of production programs through floor support, written work instructions and packaging process (PK codes).
Candidate will be learning about our components for use in DoD combat vehicles, including the full life cycle of these systems, for the full life cycle of the creation and movement of these components throughout the supply chain.
*2 years’ experience in designing packaging for components and other specialty products using software tools.
*Familiar with packaging prototyping, analysis, design reviews, modelling,
*Able to read/create technical drawings, blueprints, work instructions.
*Familiar with logistical analysis of modes of transportation of components, long and short term storage challenges and related transportation issues.
*Experience using a modelling tool such as CREO, ArtiosCAD, CorrelDraw or SolidWorks
*Understanding of PK Codes
